Band Bio
Raised in the expanse of strip malls and twenty-four hour coffee shops that make up the suburbs of east Toronto, The Eatons are four neighbourhood boys who play passionate rock music to escape the boredom of suburban living. Comprised of Boris Chan (vocals/guitar), Sebastian Franks (guitar), Jacky Siu (bass) and Nick Ferguson (drums), The Eatons' unique brand of loud guitar pop evokes the best of British indie (Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys) and North American rock (Death Cab for Cutie, Broken Social Scene).
In 2010, the band self-recorded and self-produced The Handover, an EP inspired by the band’s experience growing up in Scarborough. They mixed the record over beer and videogames with fellow eastender Trevor Humphrey. And as fate would have it, another Scarborough talent, Ryan Mills (Born Ruffians, The Most Serene Republic, The Rural Alberta Advantage) reached out to the band and mastered the record. A promotional track from the EP called “Destroyer” was released in late 2009 and received airplay on 102.1 The Edge and various college radio stations across Ontario.
Over the past year, the Eatons have shared the stage with acts such as Amos the Transparent, Styrofoam Ones, and the Junction. Highlights of their recent treks around the province include performances at festivals such as the Pitter Patter Festival, Indie Week 2009, Rock the Beach, and a sold-out showcase at NXNE 2010.
In 2008, the Eatons recorded and released the Firestarter EP. A track from Firestarter was handpicked by Toronto promoter Dan Wolovick for his first TWM Mixtape, a CD compilation of the best local acts that was reviewed in EYE Weekly.
